Old Minutesfrom Oct 19, 2019: Meeting minutes were reviewed, nocorrections made, minutes approved.
Reports:
1. River and Reservoir conditions:
a. Current storage: Pine Flat Reservoir: 401,566 AF; upstream storage: 134.535 AF for total of 536,101 AF. Pine Flat has 598,434 AF of vacant space as of Nov 17,2019.
b. The calculated natural flow of the river into Pine Flat is 333 CFS. Inflows remainder of November and into Decemberprobably around 300 CFS. All this is weather dependent. Outflow ofPine Flat Dam and Mill/Hughes creek is 396 CFS
c. Water Temps on River: Water temperatures up river to PineFlat Reservoir remain steady and cold. Water Temperatures at the PineFlat Release for past month have been between 15 to 16 C (61F), Fresno Weir: 15 to 16C (59 to 61F).
d. Reservoir conditions (Water temp and dissolved Oxygen): upper 90 feet of water ~17C (63F), dissolved oxygen 8 ppm; atMid-level sluice (~95 feet) water temp 15 C (59F), dissolved oxygen 7.5ppm; At Penstocks (~167 Feet) ~15 C (59F), dissolved oxygen 5.5ppm; and Low Level Sluice (263 Feet) 12C (54F) with dissolvedoxygen 2 ppm. It was noted that the upper 167F had constant temps (15 to17 C (59-63F) and good Dissolved oxygen 8.0 ppm
2. Stocking:
a. From Oct 1 to present) KRCD has placed ~ 5600 #(~18,000 fish) of fish into the Kings River. During same period CDFW hasplaced 2200 # (~4310 fish) of fish into the King’s River. KRCD will place 800# of fish weekly and CDFW will place 400# biweekly into river (Due to high water flows and decreased fishingopportunities). CDFW should be stocking weekly now once flows slowdown and the Kings River is fishable again.
Other reports:
a. Incubator trout: Start October 29th with 100,000eggs. Due to water quality issues with the early November heat; lost ~50%of fry. Believed this was due to water temps in the 15 to 17 C range. Live fish look good.
b. The fish survey is scheduled for December 2 to 5and Dec 9 and 10. Need volunteers to help with the survey.
c. Snorkel survey has begun (performed by Fish Bio). Survey is fromCorp bridge to Fresno Weir area. Should be completed in three days.
d. Cramer Fish Science report (Green LiDAR study): Dr. Joseph Merz will give a report on Jan 21, 2019.
e. The Warden report (Nathan Smith): He has notwritten any tickets on the Kings River over the past month. 7 GameWardens have been patrolling the Kings River region.
